Why does my account show a balance in "cash?"
Whenever there is a balance in "cash" there is money in transit and is about to be invested into your funds. This usually occurs because of a contribution that we have recently received and are in the process of investing, or your account is in the middle of a transfer of funds.
I was just paid, but my account does not reflect a purchase into the new funds.
Many things must happen before you will see it in your account: your employer has 2-3 weeks to deposit your money into the 401(k) account; then we receive the payroll file, process the contributions, purchase the funds, confirm the purchase, and then, finally, post the appropriate number of shares to your account.
